With apologies to Shakespeare (Henry V, Act 4, Scene iii), it could apply equally to cycling and skiing. So this day I mark'd for feats of Sunday, he, or she, that outlives this day and comes safe home, will stand a tip-toe when this day is named and rouse at the name of Sunday Rides. Old Men forget; yet all shall be forgot but they'll remember, with ADVANTAGES, what trails we did that day. Then shall our names, familiar in your mouth as household words high hill, Pencaitland, railway track and mud Longniddry, Gifford and the Goblin's Ha' be in their flowing cups freshly and fondly remember'd. This story shall the good man teach his son or daughter No Sunday will ne'er go by from this day to the ending of the world for in it shall we be remembered, We few, we happy few, we flock of brothers and sisters. For those that day who ride their bike with me, Will be my sibling, ne'er so vile, for this day will gentle their condition, and gentle men, and women, now-a-bed, shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, and hold their man- and woman- hoods cheap while any speaks that rode with us upon any Sunday. |

The Next Spokes Ride is on Sunday 7th September. Meet at the Usher Hall, Lothian Road at 10:00am. Distance will be around 68km (45 miles). Bring a picnic (just in case!), or money for lunch. |
